We, Mario, Melanie, Lily Rose, and Ruby Sue Tscharner from Switzerland, embarked on a new beginning in the fall of 2022 to finally realize a dream that had accompanied us for 9 years. When we discovered the forgotten coast on a road trip from Las Vegas to Miami, the area and the lovely people here captivated us from the start. The desire to take this step became greater and greater, surpassing the fear of leaving everything behind in Switzerland. Thus, Mels Dream Vacation LLC was born in beautiful Panhandle Florida.

We have always shared a passion for breathing new life into old houses, a passion we had already pursued together in Switzerland. During our annual vacations in this area, we realized that accommodations often fell short of fulfilling many of our wishes. This realization sparked the idea of turning our passion into a profession here. The courage to take this final step, leaving everything behind in Switzerland, and the necessary funds were initially lacking. However, in 2022, we admitted to ourselves that this thought persisted, and we were not getting any younger. This led to the founding of Mels Dream Vacation LLC.

During this exciting adventure of emigrating, we were accompanied by the TV team from "Auf und Davon" for a year—a thrilling time with many highs and lows that you all get to share. We also kept our friends entertained through Facebook and Instagram, sharing videos of our renovations and experiences. In one year, we enhanced the Boho Style Apartment on the Ochlockonee River, renovated the Wild West Bungalow at Alligator Point, revamped the Turtle Shell in the middle of the Woods, and are currently engaged in our fourth project in Carrabelle.

Alongside these renovation projects, we focused on additional offerings, aiming to showcase the beauty of this area to our guests. We also provide island and river boat tours. The idea of offering weddings on these deserted, beautiful, white sandy beaches arose when we witnessed a wedding in Southern Florida that felt unbelievably unromantic amid beachgoers. Our minds are brimming with new ideas that we are eager to implement, so stay tuned for what else we have in store.

Each of our projects is designed to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience. Swissness, meaning cleanliness and perfection, is important to us in all our endeavors. This year, our family was also enriched by the addition of our two faithful companions, Rocky and Bailey.

Most of our accommodations are just five minutes away from pristine white sandy beaches. The natural beauty of the Forgotten Coast surprises us daily with picturesque rivers, untouched beaches, and numerous opportunities for adventures and excursions.

It is precisely this fascination with this area that we want to share with our guests. With our arrival in the Florida Panhandle, we haven't just undertaken a significant change; rather, we've opened a new chapter.
